Quark is the property of Privacy Leather LLC and its founder, Maher Sellami.
Maher is a Tunisian entrepreneur who became an absolutely passionate fish leather tanner, after his management studies in France.
We have been tanning fish leather since 2016, and we showed up on international markets in 2020.
Our activity consists in tanning this wonderful and incredibly strong material, with its remarkable qualities in terms of resistance (90 Newtons), longevity and elegance.
We also work on innovating vegetable tanning techniques to obtain the best fish leather quality without harming the environment with toxic chemicals used in the current leather industry. Our process takes a long time to obtain a final result, but it lasts for decades, even centuries.
The natural properties of fish skins are maintained and reinforced by veg- tanning process, which guarantee high quality sustainable exotic leather… Yes, we made these adjectives coexist together on the same product!
We collect our fish hides from local fishmongers and local industries in Tunisia, so we help reduce waste impact by upcycling this so-called “garbage” into magnificent exotic and luxurious leather.
We use all kinds of fish skins, especially salmon and triggerfish skins which are massively and improperly thrown.
Quark’s leather goods are made thanks to the precious collaboration of our friend Matthieu Boulet, a French artist who fell in love with Tunisia and who is helping us to elaborate and to create magnificent pieces of art through his know-how and his international experiences as leather worker.
Our creative potential is limitless within our organization, but we only produce when can guarantee sustainability and high quality for each product, that is why we always make small quantities, which should guarantee uniqueness and special attention once you join the Quark’s community.
